Meso 4SC Mesotrione Herbicide 

Active Ingredient: Mesotrione - 40%

A selective, systemic herbicide that features a new mode of action for pre and post-emergence grass and broadleaf weed control in several cool- and warm-season turf species—like keeping bentgrass out of your rough. Meso 4SC can also be applied on established or newly seeded turf.

What is the mode of action of Meso 4SC herbicide? 

Meso 4SC inhibits a plant enzyme called HPPD that is essential to photosynthesis and prevents the formation of carotenoids in susceptible plant species. Without carotenoids, light energy and by-products of photosynthesis will destroy chlorophyll and cell membranes. This results in bleaching of leaves followed by necrosis and death of the plant.

How quickly does Meso 4SC work?

Once absorbed, Meso 4SC quickly translocates throughout the plant. Weed growth is suppressed soon after application, as photosynthesis is disrupted. Death of the plant usually occurs within two to three weeks.

What turf species can Meso 4SC be applied to?

Meso 4SC can be applied to many of the turf types commonly found on fairways, roughs, or for sod production, such as Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, tall fescue, fine fescue, centipedegrass, and St. Augustinegrass (sod only). Lower use rates are recommended for perennial ryegrass, fine fescue, and St. Augustinegrass. Meso 4SC is not for use on putting greens.

Herbi-Oil is recommended to be used with this product during hot Summer months to keep Meso 4SC from evaporating before it has been absorbed by the plant sprayed.

Usage: Apply at 4-8 fl. oz. per acre in at least 30 gallons of water.

Update: I’ve now used 2 sticks. I won’t be buying again. Although I like how convenient this moisturizer is, the price is too high for the amount you get. Also, going through another stick, I’ve noticed no signs that it helps with fine lines or wrinkles. This product is simply an on the go moisturizer or even a highlighter. But I can use castor oil and Vaseline for that. I had to deduct a star. So far, this moisturizing stick has been a great and convenient addition to my routine. I haven’t noticed any additional benefits yet (like long-term improvements in skin texture or tone), but it might be too early to say. I’ll update my review if anything changes with continued use. I do have a couple of concerns. First, the price—it feels expensive for the amount of product you get. Second, I’ve seen some people compare this to Botox, and I’m not sure why. It’s definitely not a substitute, and expecting those kinds of results just isn’t realistic. Along those lines, the product name—“Wrinkle Bounce”—may be a little misleading.
